This Conference was organised by the Department for Water Supplies, Sewerage and Environmental Monitoring at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of the Kraków University of Technology, in partnership with the Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Company S.A. in Kraków and took place on 29-30 June 2017.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the Kraków University of Technology, Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Jan Kazior. The conference was devoted to the memory of the creators and mentors of reliability and security, namely, Professors: Andrzej Królikowski, Marek Roman and Artur Wieczysty. The scientific committee was chaired by Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Wojciech Dąbrowski, and the organisational committee was chaired by Dr Hab. Eng. Jadwiga Królikowska. The main partner of the Conference was F.B.I. TASBUD S.A.

The aim of the conference was to present the results of research and also the implementation and exchange of experience, allowing the level of reliability and the safety of water supplies and sewage systems to be determined and the maintenance of high standards of reliability and modernisation in these systems. The latest research in the field of construction was presented by representatives of the Scientific and Research Division – Prof. Dr Hab. Eng. Stanisław Biedugnis, Dr. Eng. Andrzej Czapczuk and Dr. Eng. Jacek Dawidowicz. The subject matter of the speeches concerned many research areas and included:

  • analysis of the reliability and safety of water supplies and sewage systems;
  • failure rates, along with the renewal of elements of water and sewage systems;
  • materials, utilities, construction and the operation of water supplies and sewage systems, viz., the devices used in environmental engineering and protection;
  • renovation of underground technical infrastructures;
  • management and organisation of water supplies and sewage systems;
  • ecological and economic aspects of sustainable development;
  • monitoring, protection and management of water resources;
  • progress in the design, construction and operation of equipment used in environmental engineering and protection;
  • legal, technical and economic aspects of environmental protection and the management of the natural environment;
  • secondary contamination of water in water supply lines.
